When you hear the words Chattanooga Choo Choo, what comes to your mind? Is it the big-band/swing song that was featured in the 1941 movie Sun Valley Serenade, or is a train riding down the tracks? This famous Choo Choo is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year!
During one of Chattanooga's fall festivals in Tennessee, you can enjoy fun, food and music. There is an enchanted maze that you can explore through, take a train ride or a boat ride through the mountain valleys while learning about nature's most feared animals. You can also try some authentic German bratwurst while relaxing on the riverfront and listening to anywhere from bluegrass to rock music. Don't miss out on these fun fall festival events in Chattanooga, Tennessee!
Are you an avid bicyclist? How would you like to be a part of BRAT for a beautiful scenic ride in Tennessee? You really don't have to be a brat to join. The Bicycle Ride Across Tennessee (BRAT) is an annual bicycle ride that includes rides over hills, river valleys and even some flat terrain.
During your ride you not only enjoy the scenery, but there is entertainment on the way as well. The Paris Landing Arts and Crafts Festival is set up near one of the camp areas. You'll ride through several state parks that include the Chickasaw State Park, Ripley Park that has a swimming pool/water park, Reelfoot Lake where you can get up close and personal with a bald eagle, and others that will just keep you going on your trek.
A beautiful bike ride AND entertainment? Life is definitely beautiful.
Take a walk on the wild side and visit some of the fun taverns in Tennessee like Clarksville's Black Horse Pub and Brewery (132 Franklin Street) and Cool Beans Restaurant and Tavern in Knoxville (1817 Lake Avenue).
The Knoxville beer-sellers have to go through some extra steps to get that hearty beverage out to visitors, too. Have you ever heard of a "Beer Board"? No I'm not talking about a board where you keep tabs of who can drink the most beer. The city of Knoxville's City Council also acts as Knoxville's Beer Board, which regulates the beer permits in the city. I've never heard of it being called a beer board before. In order to obtain a beer permit in Knoxville, an application must be filled out, and those applicants must appear in person before the Beer Board.
Gives you a whole new meaning to the words "beer board" now doesn't it? So, enjoy that ale when you hit the town in Tennessee, and remember the extra effort those Knoxville bar owners went to on your behalf!
Now you know you'll do anything to entertain your kids. Well ok, almost anything. I know I've fallen off a cliff (in a harness while climbing) a couple times, and my son, although scared, got some pretty good entertainment out of it while he saw me hanging there in mid-air. Well how about some safe, explorative and fun entertainment without too much effort?
The Tennessee Aquarium is a wonderful place to take your kids. They have so much to see; from amphibians, to penguins, birds, butterflies, fish, invertebrates, mammals and reptiles. It'll keep your little ones intrigued for a good chunk of time and you can feel like a child yourself seeing all these great and amazing things. After all, what fun is it if you can't still be a kid sometimes?
Now I know there are a lot of Elvis Presley fans out there. Who can resist that sly crooked smile, the slick black hair, and that smooth as silk voice that melted the hearts of so many women over so many years? Do you want a piece of the memory to remember him by? Where else would you find such memorabilia other than Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee?
I have a friend who does an absolutely incredible impression of Elvis. He has the voice the moves and even the costume down pat! There are so many impersonators out there, but I was literally speechless when I saw his impression. I would love to see him perform at Graceland one day. There are so many fun things to do when visiting there.
Don't forget to check out those blue suede shoes while you're there, but remember not to step on them.
